All mountains in the country are facing Seoul,
but only Juheul Mountain is sitting back. It is
said that it¡¯s to guard against Japanese invaders.
There is Moongyeong Saejae, famous provincial
park that served sacrificial rites to the country
and secured the corner of Korean history.

¡à Hwangjang Mountain(üÜíóߣ, 1,077.3m)
- Annual rainfall: 1,169mm(snowfall: 115cm)
- Codominant trees: pine tree, oriental oak, Mongolian
oak
It is written as Hwangjeong Mountain (üÜïÔߣ) on
the map,
and Jakseong Mountain(íÎàòߣ) in Donggukyeojiseungram
and Daedongjiji, and Hwangjangbong Mountain (üÜíóܿߣ)
in Moongyeong County magazine(1982). But the accurate
name is Hwangjang Mountain.
There is Jakseong(íÎàò) and Bongsan(ܿߣ) markstone,
and lots of climbers visit the thick valley and
hidden hills.

- Annual rainfall: 1,187mm(snowfall: 115cm)
- Codominant trees: pine tree, maple, Ash, Mongolian
oak, oriental oak
It makes boundary of Gaeun-eup, Moongyeong and
Yeonpung-myeon, Goesan County, Chungcheongbuk-do.
The features standing upright with cliff towards
peak in the mid-slope are unique. The line of
Baekdudaegan that stood up Taebaek Mountain made
the roughest aspect of mountain in the area. The
most remarkable mountain among these is Heeyang
Mountain. However, Bongamsa prohibits common people
from coming and going with the reason that it
disturbs meditation.

¡à Daeya Mountain (ÓÞåߣ, 930.7m)
- Annual rainfall: 1,175mm(snowfall: 106cm)
- Codominant trees: pine tree, Mongolian oak, oriental
oak, white oak
Mountain that Baekdudaegan passes by. It has
Naewoiseonyudong(Ò®èâ à¹ë´Ô×) on both of Gyeongsangbuk-do
and Chungcheongbuk-do. It is Daeya Mountain(ÓÞå¯ß£)
at the map published by National Geographic Institute,
but it is ÓÞåߣ in Moongyeong Hyeonji published
in 1798.

[Address: Gimyong-ri, Sanbuk-myeon, Moongyeong,
Gyeongsangbuk-do]
- Annual rainfall: 1,158mm(snowfall: 92cm)
- Codominant trees: pine tree, Carpinus laxiflora,
and oriental oak
Baekdudaegan makes Undal Mountain (old name is Yongroi
Mountain) by being divided from Moongyeong region,
and it makes Gongdeok Mountain (Sabul Mountain)
again and has a large temple. It is Gimryongsa in
Undal Mountain and Daeseungsain Sabul Mountain.
Unsaljosa built Gimryongsa in the 10th year of the
King Jinpyeongwang (A.D. 588) and Undal Valley that
is one of 8 fine views in Moongyeong is called as
Naenggol because it is a little chilly. It is famous
for its maple leaves in autumn.

¡à Daemi Mountain (ÓÞڸߣ¤ýÓêڶߣ, 1,115m)
- Annual rainfall: 1,151mm(snowfall: 90cm)
- Codominant trees: pine tree, oriental oak, Mongolian
oak
Thick forest, Dwaejigol, Shimmagol, and Yonghwagugok
at the direction of Chungcheongbuk-do are famous
and there are abundant plant resources. From the
peak, you can see Sobaek Mountain far away, and
even Juheul Mountain, Joryeong Mountain, Baekhwa
Mountain, Heeyang Mountain and Sokri Mountain.

[Address: Gakseo-ri, Moongyeong-eup, Moongyeong,
Gyeongsangbuk-do, Yeonpung-myeon, Goesan County,
Chungcheongbuk-do]
- Annual rainfall: 1,160mm(snowfall: 74cm)
- Codominant trees: fir tree, Mongolian oak, berch,
and pine tree
Haneuljae that was an important transportation
road in the age of Shilla and Koryo gave the task
over to Joryeong in the age of chosun Dynasty,
and in modern age, there was new road built on
the hill named Iwuritjae ¡ºIhwahyeon¡». And even
the name was changed to Ihwaryeong, and has been
used as main path till now (National Road No.3).
The name of Joryeong Mountain is not found in
old records, but at present, Joryeong Mountain
covers from Ihwaryeong to the 3rd gateway (Joryeonggwan).

- Annual rainfall: 1,189mm(snowfall: 113cm)
- Codominant tree: pine tree, Mongolian oak, Ash,
oriental oak
Hoendimoi and Baekhwa Mountain having boundary line
with Chungcheongbuk-do as Baekdudaegan passes by
is tremendous features of opened wing with Bongsaeng
on the foot, Bongmyeong Mountain that a phoenix
sang at the front, the thousands of years old Bongamsa
on the right and Ihwaryeong and Joryeong on the
back. |
