As no record is found in old documents that there
was a porcelain furnace in Moongyeong, we should
divine the age from the pieces remaining at furnace
sites. Seeing that the furnace site assumed to
be the end of Koryo is found around Noeun-ri and
Gansong-ri, Dongro-myeon, it seems to begin at
that time. Cheongja here was coated with dark
green enamel, and sagged saucer. It shows the
characteristics of Jojil Cheongja manufactured
in the 12th century.
The porcelain in Moongyeong was mainly used by
common people, and it expresses pure attraction
and simple motion of the race as there is no decoration
and natural. Also the reason why it gets more
attention is the invisible efforts of Moongyeong
ceramists who would like to succeed and progress
tradition with traditional firewood furnace and
food spinning wheel.

Moongyeong is mountain area located at the south
of Sobaek Mountains, and has ideal gap of temperature
between day and night and limestone soil for apple.
So Moongyeong apples have an excellent sweet taste
and store well, because their flesh is thick. Their
high-quality apples are diversifiable from apples
of other regions. is the apples are forwarded through
each farming association and producer group, and
sold at joint market.

Traditional folk liquor from 500 years ago that
Hwang Hee, who was a prime minister in Chosun Dynasty,

From the result of minute analysis of National Tax
Service Technical Service Institute, it was estimated
to be the most excellent among all folk liquors
in taste, fragrance and color as well as quality.
The origin of this liquor is home-made liquor transmitted
in the family of Jangsu Hwang since Hwang Jeong,
the great-grandson of Bangchon Hwang Hee in the
early stage of Chosun Dynasty settled down here
and lived in Daeha-ri, Sanbuk-myeon, Moongyeong.

Cheongryeojang is said to be good at neuralgia of

Suseok in Moongyeong is qualified in lots of conditions
of transparency, wrinkles, bends, hardness, color
and abrasion. The main place of production is around
Gurang-ri (Nongamcheon). Nongamcheon Suseok is distributed
broadly from Sangnae-ri at the southern edge of
Baekhwa Mountain to Gurang-ri following Young River.
This Suseok is well known as Sansujongseok, Pyeongwonseok,
Pokposeok, Hosuseok, Dohyeongseok, and Chusangseok
etc. in the whole country. Besides it, between Sanggoe
and Wonbuk-ri following the valley at the eastern
edge of Heeyang Mountain, Sansugyeongseok, Mulyangseok,
and Yeonbongwon Sanseok can be found, but it has
fewer glazes. Also, Byeonsaengam Suseok is found
in the back mountain of Nongam Elementary School,
colored amsuseok in Gimyongri valley, Sanbuk-myeon,
amethyst, white crystal and black crystal in Dangpo
and Galpyeong. However, it is hard find.

As there are Seokhaek cells(à´ú·á¬øà) in pears, it stimulates

The pear farm in Hogye-ri, Hogye-myeon is a good
place to raise pears as it has clay soil, long-term
daylight, and severe gap in temperature day and

Ojeong Mountain (805m). Ssangsaem pear has a sweetness
of 13¡Æ¡14¡Æ, less than other pear and good to eat
because it has less Seokhaek cells. The soil is
a typical yellow soil. So pear tree grows well,
and it stores well. Especially, more than 5 ton¡¯s
of fertilizer are used for every 300 pyeong every
year, and it is uncontaminated as decreasing agriculture
medicines by covering all fruits with bag. 881ton
are produced from 60§µ¡¯s land.
